Looking for an assistant worker to support the senior staff at our commercial horse farm.
Although we prefer previous experience, we are willing to train someone from the ground up with no previous horse handling or farm management.
We are flexible on discussing terms with people who do not meet our description perfectly.
This is a PART TIME position.
Hours are NOT concrete.
But you make your own schedule with the owner each week.
Musts:
Be 18
years of age Have a cell phone with calling and texting capabilities Have reliable transportation Be able to lift 40-60lbs Be able to do a labor intensive job for 2-3 hours at a time Be able or willing to learn how to drive a tractor with an attached spreader Be respectful of shift times.
Tardiness is not tolerated and will result in termination.
Have attention to detail! This is a massive must for working with animals dependent on humans to care for them! Shifts:
Shifts will vary each week pending the weather and the schedule of the farm.
We are looking for someone that can assist our staff in 1-3 morning shifts per week.
Additional hours will be available for individuals capable with helping with duties outside of the core chores of the farm.

Daily Duties:
Morning Shifts:
Typically start between 8 and 8:
30 pending the weather and time of year.
(A senior staff member will have already started chores before your arrival) Clean stalls (Pitch into a tractor and manure spreader) Bed stalls with bagged shavings (We load shavings into an ATV and disperse them into stalls.
Bags weigh between 40-50lbs) Hay stalls from square bales stored on ground level Empty, wash and refill water buckets in stalls Sweep and blow out barn aisleways with a leaf blower Extra opportunities available to an individual seeking more than our core needs:
Mowing pastures with a tractor Fence maintenance Arena/jump maintenance (watering rings, moving jumps, dragging, etc) Cleaning and organizing throughout the barn (LOTS of random tasks to help keep our place operating smoothly) Holding horses during service appointments (farrier, vet, chiro, massage, etc) Grooming (Very limited opportunity) This is commercial facility for show horses, breeding stock and lessons.
We have high standards of care and expect any employees working here to be thoughtful and respectful of the business we've created.
Compensation is salary based (rate is based on experience and speed) at entry level.
Riding opportunities can be made available to interested candidates.
This is not a traveling job.
This employee would not travel to any shows or off site events.
Employees are allowed to be on their cellphones if they can be used responsibility and without hindering the work flow.
